Welcome to the partnership page of the Institute for Safety Education and Training (ISET) and the Department of Open and Distance Learning (DODL) at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT). Our collaboration is dedicated to delivering comprehensive Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) training, enhancing safety education across Papua New Guinea.

ISET began its operations in 2011 in collaboration with the Papua New Guinea University of Technology.

Founders and Key Figures

The collaboration between ISET and Unitech has been a significant driving force. Notable individuals like: 

= Late Dr. Gabriel Arpa, 

= Dr. Ken Ail, Mr. 

= Bill Miname, and 

 = Mr. Starza Paul 

They played key roles in the success of the  partnership  WHS program. 

 

ISET- Training and Program Delivery:

  • Development of WHS training modules.

  • Delivery of both in-person and online training sessions.

  • Practical training in simulated environments.

  • Comprehensive assessment and evaluation methods, including quizzes, exams, projects, and presentations.

ISET – Financial Management:

  • Ensure proper handling and redistribution of training fees.

ISET – Marketing and Promotion:

  • Building a strong brand identity.

  • Engaging with potential students and industry partners.

ISET – Resource Development:

  • Developing and updating educational resources.

  • Encouraging contributions to academic journals and conferences.

  • Investing in modern facilities and technology.

ISET- Revenue and Economic Impact:

  • Structuring competitive tuition fees.

  • Contributing to the local and national economy.

  • Implementing eco-friendly practices.

ISET – Course Fees Payment

  • Participants receive invoices directly from ISET and remit their course fees into ISET’s account. 

  • ISET redistributes the funds to DODL according to the terms outlined in our MOU. 

  • This process ensures transparency and accountability while facilitating unified financial transactions.

PNGUOT (DODL) Responsibilities

Administrative Support and Assistance:

  • Provide all necessary administrative support and assistance to ISET for the smooth implementation of the partnership.

Supervisory Roles:

  • Execute supervisory roles and actively participate in the training schedules from time to time to ensure quality and compliance.

Certification and Communication:

  • Ensuring programs meet educational standards.
  • Certify all successful participants of the program in accordance with the existing DODL Papua New Guinea University of Technology Certification Policy.

Database Management:

  • Create and maintain a database of successful participants for future reference, even after the expiry of the MOU.

ISET & DODL

Course Programs 

All our courses’ programs for the three qualifications are offered on a mixed mode for now: Face to Face Training and then continue on with assessments online/distance or off-campus learning.
