Below is a structured comparison between the Standard Entry and Graduate Entry – Mixed Mode programs, highlighting the key features, durations, progression, and flexibility built into each route.

1. Standard Entry (Year 1–Year 3 WHS Program)

Target Group: Recent Grade 12 school leavers and individuals with limited or no WHS experience.

Program Duration:

  • Year 1: BSBWHS30719 Certificate I–III in WHS
  • Year 2: BSBWHS41419 Certificate IV in WHS
  • Year 3: BSBWHS51319 Diploma in WHS

Learning Mode: Primarily online/distance learning across PNG with scheduled face-to-face opportunities.

Training Schedule – Year 1 (Certificate I–III)

  • First Block: 2-week introductory session, offered:
    • On-campus
    • At regional training venues
    • Via Google Classroom
  • Second & Third Blocks: Two 5-day intensive training sessions, spaced across the academic year

Progression Pathway: Students move from foundational learning in Year 1 to advanced management skills in Year 3, preparing for leadership roles in WHS.

Focus: A three-year structured journey combining theoretical learning and practical application, ideal for learners developing from the ground up.

Support for Employment: Diploma-level students receive full job readiness training—resume writing, interview coaching, and mock interviews.

Completion Time: Each year must be completed within 12 months.

2. Graduate Entry – Mixed Mode Learning

Target Group: Working professionals with prior WHS training or experience, or those needing a flexible study option.

Program Duration: Flexible 3 to 12 months

Learning Modes:

  • Face-to-Face: 10-day intensive course with certification awarded on the final day
  • Online/Distance: Self-paced, structured program with assessment support
  • Mixed Mode: Combine both methods and switch at any time without added cost

Progression: After Certificate I–III, students may proceed to Certificate IV and Diploma programs.

Focus: Accelerated, practical, and flexible—perfect for upskilling while working.

Completion Time: Must be completed within 3 to 12 months.

3. Undergraduate Route – Block Training (Certificate IV & Diploma)

Program Duration: Each level (Certificate IV and Diploma) is completed within 12 months.

Structure:

  • First Block: 2-week induction (on-campus, training venue, or online)
  • Second & Third Blocks: Two 5-day sessions, spaced through the year

This structure allows learners to manage their own schedules while meeting competency goals on time.
